Being ready helps, so let me walk you through all you need to know about Singapore’s weather, especially around December.
Is December a Good Time to Visit Singapore?
Our first visit to Singapore was right around the first part of December. We loved visiting Singapore (and have been back there a few times during other parts of the year. Generally speaking, everything remains the same during December except for a few things:
- There are more people out, given the cheerful Christmas season.
- There are more tourists at the Changi airport and many leaving, especially if you fly close to Christmas.
- There are more seasonal sales in outlet stores and malls in the month of December.
- December in Singapore of course has a more vibrant and livelier atmosphere.

The weather of Singapore is perfect during December. This is also why so many tourists prefer to visit Singapore in December, one of the peak tourist seasons.
What Season is Singapore in December?
Singapore has a tropical climate and is really close to the equator. It’s actually just 137 kilometers above it. So, seasons are mostly hot and humid. One thing we noticed about Singapore is how the rain can come out of nowhere, a raincoat or jacket should be part of your travel essentials list, even though it seems like it won’t rain.

No, it’s not from a universal perspective. While there will be seasonal rains from time to time, most days in Singapore are hot and humid. However, it will be colder than most parts of the year. Normally, temperatures will hover around 24 C to 32 C in Singapore during the last few months of the year.
Does it Snow in Singapore in December?
It doesn’t snow in Singapore, but with all the money in the city, I won’t be surprised if some places and companies will create artificial snow for recreational purpose.

The humidity in Singapore is another monster, to be honest. When it rains, expect that it’ll even be more humid. Pack light clothes and prepare to sweat it out when walking around the outdoors. Most districts have airconditioned shopping centers, though, so you can walk in for a comfortable breeze if you’d like.
How warm is it in Singapore in December?
It’s not as warm as other times of the month, but it’s still generally warm. At the peak time of the day- around 12 noon to 3 p.m. – the sun will shine down hard if it’s extra sunny. I recommend planning to be indoors during those times if you’re not too used to the sun. Bring sunblock too if you have sensitive skin.

It’s definitely one of the higher seasons, the other most significant high season being Chinese New Year. Expect prices of accommodations and flights to go up. Singapore Events & Activities
What are the Best Things to Do in Singapore in December? You can definitely do everything you would normally do in Singapore when you’re there in December. But here are some of the most notable.
- Gardens by the Bay — Go over to Gardens by the Bay, but get ready to open an umbrella or run for it! Rains will come out of nowhere. You can also head into the Cloud Forest since it’s indoors and airconditioned.
- Marina Bay Sands — Head over to the iconic Marina Bay Sands. I don’t recommend the Skypark, though as you don’t do much there except take pictures. Go over to the bar on the rooftop instead.
- Orchard Road — Orchard Road is a massive shopping district. There are malls and shops everywhere. You can walk most of the way as there are many covered areas if you want to stay in the shade. Going there at night is also great.
- Singapore River Cruise — December is generally a cooler time of the year, so going to the Singapore River Cruiseis definitely a good idea.
- Cable Car Sky Dining – Ever wanted to dine hung in the sky? It is possible in Singapore
- Hawker Centers — You can’t leave Singapore without trying some hawker food. They will be mostly open and non-air-conditioned, but that shouldn’t be a problem in December.

What are the Events to Attend in Singapore in December?
There are definitely a lot of Christmas-themed installations, concerts, and family events around this time of the month in Singapore. I normally like to check Eventbrite because many Singaporean event planners and companies use it to promote events.
Don’t go to Singapore in December, though, if you’re going for business and you want to network with startups and businesses. Work-related events slow down around this time of the year.
Is Singapore Good for Christmas?
That depends on a few decision markers. If you’re a budget-conscious traveler, going to Singapore will be a little more expensive. Roughly, we spent around 10-15% more when we visited Singapore because of the higher room rates, airfares, and attractions that jack up rates during peak seasons. Plus, of course, the wife and kids saw more bargains that they say would help “save’ money (men get the struggle).
Is Singapore Expensive During December?
Singapore is expensive all year round, but more so during December. This time and Chinese New Year are probably the most expensive times to visit Singapore. But it’s definitely a lot livelier and more fun. Families, especially, will enjoy the festivities and decorations during this time of the year.
