Shiva Bhagwan, the destroyer of the world resides at Mount Kailash. The literal meaning of Kailash Parbat is ‘Precious jewel of eternal show’.

The holy Mt. Kailash, which is also known as the stairway to heaven is undoubtedly the most mysterious of all mountain ranges in the whole of Himalayas. Kailash Parbat is a lone peak which is detached from the Himalayan range of mountains.

Having visited Kailash Mansarovar, I thought of spilling the beans on the best kept secrets of Kailash Parbat which very few people know about. Before I start telling you about the Kailash mystery, let me tell you that Kailash Parvat is revered by Bon religion, Hindu and its offshoots such as Sikhism, Jainism and Buddhism. This is why Kailash Parvat has so many names such as कैलास, Kailayam, Kailāsa, Kailasam, Mount Kailash, Mt. Astapada, Swastika Mountain, Gang Rinpoche, Kangri Rinpoche, Kang Tisé, Tisé mountain and Kangrinboqê peak etc.

Does Lord Shiva live at Mount Kailash?

Who lives at Kailash Parvat? This mystery behind Mount Kailash has been a hot topic since centuries. Hindus firmly believe that the Adi yogi Shiv Bhagwan lives at Kailash Parbat with his eternal spirit mate Shakti or his beloved wife Parvati ji.

The followers of Hindu faith say that Shiv Bhagwan sits in perpetual meditation on Kailash Parbat. Kailash Parbat has remained the abode of Lord Shiva since the past 21,000 years. It is the biggest Kailash Parvat secret.

Has anyone seen Lord Shiva in Mount Kailash?

Does Shiva reside in Kailash? Is Shiva still in Kailash? These are some very commonly asked questions. The highest power that resides in Kailash Parvat is indeed Shiv Bhagwan. Shiv ji exists in Kailash in mysterious forms. While we may not be able to directly see Shiv Bhagwan, he reveals himself in hints and glimpses. Yes, I saw Shiv Bhagwan many times. You must read this blog to see how and when!

The secret of Gauri Kund

There are many mysterious tales and stories associated with Gauri Kund which falls between Dolma La Pass and Zuthulphuk during the parikrama or kora. You should read my detailed blogs on these mystical places if you want to have a deeper understanding of the same. My blog A Soul Window is a successful travel blog of an Indian backpacker.

Mount Kailash Shiva Face

Can we see Lord Shiva? It is commonly known that the face of Lord Shiva appears on the holy Mt Kailash. It was found by the Nasa scientists as stated above. The top view of the face of Shiv Bhagwan is not visible to devotees or any other since it is a satellite image.

However, I also saw two huge faces on the North face of Kailash Parbat on the same day I saw carved images of Hanuman ji, Vaishno Devi Mata, Ganesh Bhagwan and others. The huge face took shape when the snow fell on the black mountain. It looked like a clear face with nose and mouth. And when I saw the mouth in the same face, the mouth looked like a face too. Eerie! Isn’t it? I didn’t need Nasa to see the carving of face of Shiv ji.

Shiva Face on Mount Kailash which I saw was located between the images of Vaishno Mata Pindi and image of Ganesh Bhagwan on the North face of the holy mountain in Deraphuk.

Secret of four faces of Mount Kailash Parbat

Did you know that the four faces of Kailash Parbat face the four different directions of the compass viz north, south, east and west? This is how Kailash Mountain emits positive energy in all 4 directions.

It is mysterious how perfectly the four slopes of Kailash Mountain face different directions. It has been clearly described in the ancient Hindu scripture Vishnu Purana that each face of Kailash Parvat is composed of precious stones such as Ruby (west face), Lapis Lazuli (Southface), Gold (North face) and Crystal (east face).

Swastika Symbol on Kailash Parbat

Just after I left Yam Dwar on day one of Kailash parikrama, I saw a huge Swastika symbol made on the rock right next to the stone that looked like Nandi ji. Swastika is a sacred symbol in Hinduism.

As per some devotees, around sun set, the mountain casts a shadow on the pyramid-shaped Kailash Parbat which looks like the sacred symbol of Swastika. In Hinduism, Swastika is considered to be auspicious and sacrosanct. Swastika is visible on the West face of Kailash Parvat.

Soul Window Observations

Many people have observed a Swastika on the South face of Kailash Parbat. I was amazed to see the clear symbol of Swastika etched out on a rock near Kailash Parvat. I had no words! I just stood there, bewildered! How can there be so many symbols related to Sanatan Dharm or Hinduism ate every corner. It is impossible that these symbols are carved by humans to manipulate them. Numb and speechless, a visit to Kailash Parvat changed my perceptions to science, as we know it.

Natural Nandi Idol near Kailash Parvat

Just as we started walking towards Deraphuk monastery from Yam Dwar on the first day of parikrama around the sacred Kailash Parbat, my co traveler Sumit ji asked me have a darshan of Nandi ji. “Nandi ji? In the middle of nowhere in remote Tibet?”, I wondered. Till then, I did not know the immense spiritual significance of Kailash Parbat.

When I failed to see Nandi ji, he pointed me towards a rock structure. After a little effort, I was spellbound to see that the rock which I was looking at, was eerily shaped like Nandi ji. Located near the entrance of parikrama of Kailash Parvat, Nandi ji stood as the guard of this holy mountain on the western face of Mt. Kailash.

Kailash Parbat is where Lord Shiva (as the west calls Him) stays. Being his abode, Shiva Bhagwan performs eternal meditation with his beloved wife Parvati Maa and the guardian deity of Kailasha Parvat, Nandi Bull.

The much-loved Nandi ji is the animal form of Shiva Bhagwan. It is also the vahana or means of transportation of Shiv ji as well as His most faithful worshiper.

As per the ancient Shaivite literature in Sanskrit language, Tamil language and other old Indic languages, Nandi ji is seen as the anthropomorphic door-keeper of Kailasha Parbat, rather than the savari or vahan of Shiva ji.

It is common knowledge that the worship of Shiv Bhagwan and Nandi ji is also observed during the ancient Indus Valley Civilization. Several seals depicting Lord Shiva (as the West calls Him) and Nandi Bull like animal figures have been unearthed from the excavation sites of Harappa and Mohenjo daro in present day Pakistan in South Asia.

Soul Window Facts

The Curse of Nandi ji: Did you know about this interesting tale about Nandi ji and Ravan as told in ancient puranic tales? Nandi ji had an altercation with Ravana, the villain of Hindu epic Ramayan. Nandi ji confronted Ravan on why he behaved restlessly like a monkey while trying to meet Shiv ji. (for deeper context read my blog on Gauri Kund)

Unhappy with unruly ways of Ravan, Nandi ji cursed him Ravana, who was the demon King of Lanka, now known as Sri Lanka. Nandi ji predicted that a time will come when the golden kingdom or Sone Ki Lanka of Ravan will be burnt down by an army of forest dwelling monkeys or vanaras.

The prophecy of nandi ji came true when Hanuman ji burnet down Lanka with his tail while trying to search and rescue Seeta Maa, who was kidnapped by Ravana and held captive in the secret Ashok Vatika.

Carving of Vaishno Devi Mata on Kailash Parbat

I don’t know why no one talks about it but I actually saw and photographed picture of Mata Vaishno Devi on the North face of Mount Kailash from my guesthouse in Deraphuk. I have never seen any article or video on this. Maybe, I am one of the few lucky ones who actually saw it. This is the first time someone is sharing the same.

Towards the left side of Kailash Parbat, I saw snow forming image of Vaishno Devi Mata on the pitch-black Kailash Parvat. Vaishno Devi Maa was represented in the form of Pindi. It is the same Pindi I had darshan of when I visited Maa Vaishno Devi in good weather. You can also reach Vaishno Devi ji by helicopter or by an easy walk.

Carvings above Mount Kailash

Thanks to the modern satellite imagery, we now know that there are many more carvings and sculptures on the holy Kailash Parvat. Needless to say, that these are not any other ordinary carvings.

It is estimated that these mysterious carvings are as tall as 250 feet. We must have looked like a tiny insignificant speck in front of these huge carvings as we walked around Kailash Parvat.

Mount Kailash carvings on North Face

We were lucky that we stayed at Deraphuk for longer than most devotees who stay here for only one day. Deraphuk is the most popular stop during parikrama of Kailash Parvat because it falls on the middle of the route. Deraphuk also has the grandest view of the holy Kailash Parvat. This is where it is least covered by other adjacent mountains.

Ever since I arrived at the guesthouse of Driraphuk, I had been staring at Kailash Parvat all day, trying to see the unseen, trying to hear the unheard! I did not notice anything eerie and supernatural for most part of my stay here. It was very cloudy when I visited.

However, on my last day many miracles happened around Mt Kailash. Suddenly, the skies cleared, it was bright and sunny, it drizzled a little and I even saw a double rainbow. It was magical but better things awaited me in evening.

I was just loitering around aimlessly when Sumit ji asked to see the carvings on the wide north face of Kailash Parvat. I did not understand when he wanted me to see the images of Hanuman ji, Vaishno Devi Mata, Shiv ji and Ganesh ji on the mountain. Clouds had surrounded most of Kailash Parvat anyways.

Soul Window Moments!

After much observation, what I saw made my jaws drop. Suddenly I started seeing these images of Hindu deities one after another. Soon, other strangers from India also started to point the same and discucuss it with each other. All the Hindu devotees who were present there saw this miracle of Kailash Parvat. Everyone was overjoyed, surprised and very emotional. It was like Gods giving darshan to devotees one after the another.

Who made these carvings on Kailash Parvat? What shocked me was the sheer grandeur of the carvings and the questions that followed. I was constantly thinking, “Who made these carvings?” because clearly no human has ever been successful in climbing atop Kailash Parvat.

I have stayed for many days in Deraphuk and never before this, did I see such carvings on Kailash Parbat. The sacred mountain was mostly hidden with clouds most part of the day. Also, I feel the fresh snowfall at Kailash Parvat made us see these images. The snow falling at right places could have formed these images with clear lines.

And even if humans were able to climb atop Kailash Parvat, it would be an impossible task to draw clean lines at such high altitude and inhospitable terrain. I mean, have you ever heard of anyone making carvings at Kilimanjaro of Africa? Or even Mount Everest in Nepal for that matter!

What makes it even more interesting is that all the carvings which are seen on the Mount Kailash are those of highly revered Gods and Goddesses from the Hindu pantheon. These carvings which are visible to humans and any regular devotee are concentrated on the North face of Kailash. This is located right opposite to the guesthouse in Deraphuk and the famous Deraphuk monastery.

I have written in detail below about which larger than life carvings I saw on Kailash Parvat.

Carving of Ganesh Ji on Kailash Parbat

I had also clearly seen two images of Ganesh Bhagwan, the son of Shiv ji on Kailash Parvat. Towards the bottom right, and image of Ganesh ji in standing position was clearly visible. This image was one of the most prominent as it looked so well carved. It seemed as if someone had actually made this image with hands. I had of course, seen this carving of Ganesh ji on Kailash Parvat from a distance. In reality, the carving would have been much larger than what we saw.

An elephant head on a human body, complete with hands and legs was visible to not only me but all the devotees who were present there. Just above this standing image of Ganesh ji, I also saw a beautifully carved head of an elephant, which also represented Ganesh ji. This elephant head was located to the top right most corner of the summit of Kailash Parvat.

The lines were so cleanly drawn that again it appeared like some one had climbed all the way to the top of the mountain to draw the elephant face. It was one of the best moments of my life. Other people who had also witnessed along with me were also overjoyed and emotional when they saw these carvings on Kailash Parvat.

The carvings of both the face of elephant head as well as Ganesh ji in standing position are located on the North face of Kailash Parvat. We saw it right outside our shared guest house in Deraphuk.

Carving of Hanuman Ji on Kailash Parbat

I also saw an image of Hanuman ji right below the pindi of Mata Vaishno Devi. Like other images, this image was also visible on the North face of Kailash Parvat. The image was that of a face with eyes, nose and mouth. It looked like the face of Hanuman ji for sure. This image is also located towards the left of the north face of Kailash Parvat.

Soul Window Observation

It is not the first time that I have seen image of Hanuman ji on a mountain. I was humbled when I saw the image of Hanuman ji on a mountain in Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh. Located in the beautiful North East India, the clearly visible face of Hanuman ji in Mechuka was surrounded by dense green forest.

Doesn’t it seem like a divine intervention that only the face of Hanuman ji was not covered with greenery? The eyes, nose and mouth were clearly visible. I visited Mechuka just after my trip to Basar.

Picture of Hanuman ji during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Did you know that one person clicked picture of Hindu God Hanuman ji during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra? However, the person died after taking the picture. He was one of the three people who were doing the pilgrimage of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. He was a big devotee of Hanuman ji and used to worship him all day. He was curious to know the real form of Hanuman ji.

While visiting Mansarovar Lake, he had seen a mysterious looking langur monkey walking towards the Himalayas. They tried to follow him but failed to reach him. After this, they searched for Hanuman ji in mountains and caves.

He suddenly saw light coming from one cave. He took out his camera and tried to take a picture. He had died on the spot after taking the picture. His body was taken to hospital and even the doctors were surprised by this unnatural death. Later, his friends, developed the reel of the camera into images.

They were shocked to see the image of Hanuman ji reading Ramayan. It is well-known that Bajrang Bali is immortal and He still roams the Earth. There are certain places where it is said that Hanuman ji stays. Gandhmadan Parvat is one of them. Gandhmadan Parvat is located towards the north of Kailash Parvat. The fact that Gandhmadan Parvat is the abode of Hanuman ji is also mentioned in Puran and many ancient Hindu scriptures.

Why did Hanuman ji choose Gandhmadan Parvat as his abode? According to Shrimad Bhagwat Puran, whenShri Ram was going to Baikunth Dham from earth, he asked Hanuman ji to stay back on Earth. This is the place where Shri Ram and Hanuman ji made plans to attack Lanka with other monkeys in vanar sena.

It is said that footprints of Shri Ram can still be seen here. Maharishi Kashyap had also did tapasya (penance) here. Many Rishi, Muni, apsara and kinnar also live here. Gandhmadan Parvat is called so because many medicinal plants and herbs are found here, due to which a pleasant fragrance can always be experienced here.

This is why Hanuman ji choose Gandhmadan Parvat as his abode. There is a Hindu temple here where Shri Ram and Hanuman ji are worshipped.

Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta also mentions about Gandhmadan Parvat. There is a chapter where the meeting of Pandava with Hanuman ji is also mentioned. As we know Mahabharat happened much later than Ramayana. While Mahabharat happened in the third Yuga, Dwapar Yuga, events of Ramayan unfolded in the second Yuga or Treta Yuga as per Hindu History. There is a huge gap between the two Yuga, so it is very curious to know that the Pandavas from Mahabharat met Hanuman ji of Ramayan.

There is another Gandhmadan Parvat in the holy city of Rameshwaram in Tamilnadu in South India. This is the place from where Hanuman ji jumped to reach Lanka or the present Sri Lanka.

Carving of Damru

Apart from the Om Symbol and Swastika symbol, many other symbols of divinity and spirituality which are associated with Hindu Gods and Goddesses have also been observed around sundown, in and around Mt Kailash.

Om Symbol or Om Parbat at Mount Kailash

Having grown up as a Hindu, I have been taught that the sound of Om is highly revered in Hindu scriptures. The sound of Om is after all the first sound of the universe. This symbol of ultimate reality is highly sacred. Om, after all is the vibration of the universe.

Some people have observed the symbol of Om or AUM on Kailash Mountain. The Om symbol on Kailash Parbat looks like ॐ in the Devanagari script. The Om symbol is formed when the snow falls on the peak. So, it may not be always visible to the naked eye. Interestingly, the snow falls in the shape of Om or ॐ symbol in Devanagari script.

The huge ice trough and horizontal rock formations towards the summit of the Kailash Parvat displays the sacred Om symbol. This embodiment of the presence of Shiv ji is to be seen to be believed!

This is a major secret of Kailash Parbat which is yet to be solved. The Om symbol can be viewed from the southern direction of the ridge.

I don’t know any other place where such a unique Om symbol is formed in a natural way due to the deposition of snow. Do not miss the Om Parvat.

Whispers at Kailash Mountain in night

Some people have claimed that they hear strange whispers coming from Kailash Parvat during night. In fact, this Mount Kailash mystery is also documented in a book written by Dr. Ernst Muldashif. He has elucidated on the strange whispers which can be heard coming from the silent manger of Kailash Mountain.

Dr. Muldashif, who shared these findings after much research was a Russian. Is it because some people or even some beings in unidentified forms still live there? Humanity is still trying to find a concrete answer to this frequently asked question.

On another night Dr Ernst Muldashev and his team members heard an eerie sound of falling stone which appeared like it came from inside the Kailash Parvat. As per Dr Ernst Muldashev, it is very much possible that still some living beings reside inside the pyramid of holy Mount Kailash.

Is there a Shivling in Mount Kailash?

During Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, I personally did not see or worship any Shivlinga since there are no Hindu temple in West Tibet.

Hindu people believe that Kailash Parbat itself it a Shivalinga. In fact, Kailash Mountain is the tallest Shivalinga in the world. Well, it continues to be a Mount Kailash mystery.

Satellite View of Kailash Parvat

As per the satellite view image of Kailash Parvat, we can clearly see the shadow side of the Kailash Himalaya which resembles the smiling visage of Shiva Bhagwan. This smiling face of Shiva Bhagwan is seen on the Google Earth image as well.

Is it impossible to climb Mount Kailash?

Yes, no one except the famous 11th century Tibetan poet Milarepa has ever been able to climb Kailash Peak. While many famous Russian and European mountaineers attempted to climb Kailash Parvat, none of them succeeded. Ascending the great Kailash is impossible!

Some even died during or after the attempt. It is said that most climbers experience disorientation, misleading paths and even shifting of the sacred mountain. Later, the Chinese government completely banned any climbing activity on Mount Kailash in the early 2000s. This mystery of Mount Kailash has been a topic of discussion since a long time.

Soul Window thoughts

I personally feel that even if it was allowed to climb Kailash Parvat, one should not. It is sacrilege to even think of climbing the holy mountain. One should respect the sentiments of Hindus, Buddhists, Bon people, Jains and Sikhs. I have written in detail on this topic on another blog. Do read my blog on why people are unable to climb Mount Kailash.

Does the Kailash Parbat Move?

Yes, it is said that the Kailash Parbat keeps moving and changing its position. This is also the reason why the trekkers who attempted to climb the summit of Kailash Parbat have failed because due to the movement of Kailash Mountain, the trekkers are often disoriented or start trekking on misleading tracks. I have not heard of any other mountain which changes its contours constantly. The mystery of Kailash Mountain deepens!

Does Mount Kailash keep moving? The Kailash Parbat is also known to change its position from time to time. It has happened several times that climbers have lost their way or are misled due to a change in position of the mysterious mountain. No one has been able to solve this mystery of Mount Kailash.

Mount Kailash Drone

What is visible when one flies the drone around Kailash Parvat? Can we fly drones around Kailash Mountain? No, it is strictly prohibited to fly drones around Kailash Parbat.

Can helicopter land on Mount Kailash?

It is impossible for a helicopter to land on Mount Kailash. Having said that, as per the latest developments, you can enter West Tibet from the hilly terrains of Nepal from a helicopter via Hilsa and Simikot. This is great for those who have less time. The first place where devotees stay after coming from this route is Taklakote which is also known as Burang or Purang.

Can Plane fly over Mount Kailash?

The answer to this frequently asked question about Kailash Parbat is a big NO! There are many reasons which are attributed for this unique rule. Ranging from diplomatic relationship between Indian and China, technical issue or supernatural phenomenon are some of them.

The highest cruising altitude at which the planes are allowed to fly range between 25,000 to 35,000 feet. There are many tall mountains around the Kailash range aka Gangdisê Mountains and Transhimalaya mountain range in the Ngari Prefecture of West Tibet, due to which flights are avoided here.

Mysterious city of Shambala: Mystery of Mount Kailash

It is one of those secrets of Kailash Parvat which has been debated since a long time. As per the Tibetan Gurus, the region around Kailash Parbat has supernatural powers which cannot be described.

In fact, the Tibetans also believe that the mysterious city of Shambala is also located in the region around Kailash Parvat. As per the Buddhist beliefs, the Siddha and ascetic people still live in the mysterious Shambala city. Mystery of Kailash is bottomless.

Mysterious Effects of Kailash Parbat during full moon

It is a best kept Mount Kailash secret that the holy Kailash Parvat is the center for the annual Scorpio full moon event.

This event is the exact culmination time of the Scorpio full moon. But what makes it so special? When a devotee meditates next near Kailash Parvat during the Scorpio full moon, he can find clarity in his life through deep meditation or enlightenment. Such is the effect and power of meditating near Kailash Parbat during full moon night.

Is Kailash Parbat same as Mount Meru?

Since times immemorial, followers of Hinduism or Sanatan Dharm and Buddhism, the sacred Kailash Parvat has remained the physical embodiment of Mount Meru.

As per both Hindu and Buddhist faiths, Kailash Parbat is the prototype of Mount Meru, the center of the world.

Is Mount Kailash radioactive?

Mount Kailash radiation is still being explored by the scientists. Radio-active energies by pyramids around Mt. Kailash has been observed by many modern-day scientists. Beyond the spiritual energy, Kailash Parbat also exudes a certain energy which makes it a nuclear power.

As per a version of the story regarding Mount Kailash radiation, in the Treta Yug when event from the Hindu epic Rāmāyaṇa unfolded, the demon king of Lanka, Ravan attempted to take back Mount Kailash to his kingdom in what in now known as Sri Lanka. Despite incessant efforts and attempts, Ravan was unable to lift Kailash Parbat and transport it to Lanka.

It is interesting to note that despite being a powerful King who had all that he wanted, Ravan was adamant on uprooting Kailash Parbat and taking it back to Lanka. “What could have been his motivation to do the same”, I wonder? Is it not possible that Kailash Mountain was a nuclear power plant which Ravan was determined to get his control on by hook or by crook?

Despite his failure, Ravan had come in direct contact with the radioactive source. While bathing in the nearby Rakshastal or demon lake, he ended up mixing the nuclear residue with the water of Rakshastal. The ill effects of radiation are still observed in the Rakshas Taal. This is why, all the devotees do not visit Rakshas Tal, fearing that bathing in its water will disfigure them.

Ravana carried nuclear residue which was left in Lake Rakshas Taal after he bathed in it. Now whoever bathes in radioactive water will get disfigured due to ill effects of radiation. Did you know about this Kailash Mansarovar mystery?

Philip Coppens has also mentioned that Kailash Parbat holds the potential to be a radioactive nuclear power plant. Not many know that it has also been debated often if people of the ancient civilization in Mohendojaro were annihilated due to the nuclear emission from Mount Kailash. It has remained a theory and nothing has been proved as yet. This remains one of the biggest mysteries of Mount Kailash.

Mystery of Yam Dwar

Located at Tarboche, Yam Dwar near Darchen is where the parikrama for Mount Kailash begins from. “The Gateway of God of Death”. Yam Dwar which is also called as Chorten Kang Ngyi, the literal meaning of which is two-legged stupa in Tibetan language, is a mysterious place.

Connected to the heaven and soul, Hindus are strictly warned that once they have crossed Yam Dwar during parikrama around Kailash Parvat, they should not look back at the gate as it may bring ill luck. No one knows the scientific reason behind this. Do read my blog on Yam Dwar for a deeper understanding of this mysterious phenomenon.

Mount Kailash Nasa

What did NASA find in Mount Kailash? A United States of America based space agency known as Nasa did deep research on Kailash Parvat using Google Earth and satellites between the years 2015 and 2016. The scientists of Nasa wanted to know why no one has been able to climb Mount Kailash yet or even fly a plane or land a helicopter on it.

The footage that they received shocked people. This NASA satellite view on Google Earth dated 2016 went viral. People were taken by surprise when the Shiva Face was observed on the Mount Kailash. In fact, the shadow which Kailash Parvat cast resulted in many different faces of Shiv Bhagwan.

Mount Kailash as Mani

Kailash Parbat is like a Mani. Ruby, Lapis Lazuli, Gold and Crystal is what Kailash Parbat is made up of. This is another talked about mystery of Mount Kailash.

Mystery of the Cross Mark

I had not noticed it during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, but I heard some people saying that a giant cross symbol is made with a groove and gauge on the holy Kailash Parvat. The groove can be seen on the waist of Kailash Parbat. People say that the groove is the mark of the snake which sits around the neck of Shiva Bhagwan.

On the other hand, gouge is the remnant of a war between Milarepa and Naro Bönchung who waged a battle aeon ago for the control of Kailash Mansarovar.

Mount Kailash Pyramid

Is Mount Kailash a Pyramid? As per Mohan Bhatt, a Mumbai based Sanskrit scholar, even in the Hindu epic Ramayana, the Kailash Parbat is referred to as the pyramid. The same has also been mentioned in the ancient vedas. Centuries before the Russian scientists claimed the same, the Hindus had already mentioned it in Ramayana. Even to a layman, the signs of human intervention or unnatural occurrence around Kailash Parvat is more than obvious.

The perfect shape of Kailash Parbat makes it stand out from any other mountain on Earth. This is what separates Kailash Parvat from other mountains.

It was Dr Ernst Muldashev, a Russian ophthalmologist based in Ufa, who famously claimed that Kailash Parvat is indeed an ancient manmade pyramid which is surrounded from all sides by much smaller pyramids and has mysterious links with the famous pyramids of Giza in Egypt and Teotihuacan. However, the claims made by Muldashev’s were dismissed by the Chinese authorities and scientists3 years later in an official Chinese Press.

He said that Kailash Parbat is directly connected with the other grand man-made pyramids we know on Earth. As per his claims, pyramids were constructed by ancient people who had way more advanced knowledge and civilization. Those mysterious people were well versed with the laws of subtle energy.

It was year 1999, when the Ernst Muldashev, a reputed Russian ophthalmologist embarked upon an unprecedented expedition to the western part of Tibet. His main objective was to unravel the secrets and mysteries that surround Kailash Parvat. He had a robust team which comprised of trained experts in the field of physics, history, science and geology.

It was a serious expedition which involved meeting many Tibetan lamas. The team had in fact stayedclose to Kailash Mountain for many months so that they could complete their study and research holistically.

Nicholas Roerich has also written extensively on Kailash Parvat. In fact, not many know that one of his most famous paintings actually depicts the path which leads to Kailash Mountain. No wonder, Russians, along with Hindus from India have been fascinated with this mysterious mountain since aeon.

As per the deep research done by Dr Ernst Muldashev and his team mates from Russia, Kailash Parbat is unlike any other mountain either in its vicinity or elsewhere. As per the qualified Russian scientists, Kailash Parbat is very symmetrical in shape which is not how naturally formed mountains look like. They concluded that Kailash Mountain is indeed a pyramid which was built by humans in ancient times.

The perfect shape of Mt. Kailash make it stand apart from other peaks of the world. From any angle, it doesn’t look like a naturally occurring mountain. The team also claimed that Kailash Parvat is a center of all paranormal activities.

From a distance, the pyramidal Kailash Parbat looks like a Hindu temple with a shikhar! Some also say it looks like a cathedral.

The perpendicular side region of the mountain gives it striking similarity with that of the shape of a pyramid. This is also why Kailash Parbat is also called as the “Biggest Man-made Pyramid on Planet Earth”! Sheer drop of hundreds of feet has been observed at the sides. The strata is horizontal while the color of several layers of stone is subtly differing. What’s more?

Even the distinct dividing lines are clearly visible. What if someone very tall built this huge pyramid with his bare giant hands by placing one colossal block of reddish black stone one atop the other.  The same was also said by G.C. Rawling in The Great Plateau, London, 1905.

In fact, more than 100 small pyramids are also located around the Kailash Parbat. Mt. Kailash sits right in the center of this entire complex which is made up of several smaller pyramids.

I leave it to you, whether you want to see Kailash Parvat as a majestic creation of nature or a man-made pyramid! You can also compare the Pyramid of Kailash with Pyramid of Teotihuacan and pyramid of Giza. This world–wide system of interconnected pyramids needs to be probed further by unbiased scientists.

Did you know that Mount Shasta, the sacred mountain of California in USA is often linked to Kailash Parbat?

Is Kailash Parbat like a compass?

I have covered all the aspects of the mystery of Kailash Mountain in this exhaustive guide based on my own travel. It is also said that the pyramidal Kailash Parbat is also like a compass which tells the direction of places.

I hope you are enjoying all the research based, deep insights I am explaining in this information packed article. No old school and traditional guide books have shared these lesser-known facts about Mount Kailash. For some unknown reason, the mainstream media also shies from publishing these facts.

Is there vacuum inside Kailash Parbat?

As per the scientists if this man-made pyramid has vacuum or not still remains an unsolved Kailash Parvat mystery. The top of the Kailash Parbat, according to scientists is a vacuum. It is presently estimated by scientists that the direct height of the pyramid complex ranges is between 328 feet to 5,905 feet or 100 and 1,800 meters.

If we compare this to the tallest of Egyptian Pyramids in the north-east corner of the African continent, then we are talking about man-made pyramids of Egypt which are only 479 feet or 146 meter tall. This makes Kailash Parbat larger than any other known pyramid in the world.

Soul Window Observations

I had myself never seen a mountain as unique as Kailash Parbat. I looked at each and every mountain around the Kailash Mansarovar region in Tibet and none of them looked like Mount Kailash from any angle.

I have also done many high-altitude treks such as Dodital Darwa Pass Trek near the sacred Yamunotri and Roopkund Trek in Uttarakhand. In Bhutan and Nepal as well, I did epic treks such as Tiger’s Nest Monastery trek, Everest Base Camp Trek and Poonhill Trek but never sawany mountain as shapely asKailash Parbat.

Mysterious Supernatural energy of Kailash Parbat

There is a certain mystic energy around the Kailash Parbat which no one has been able to understand yet.

Not many know that Meru Parvat, which is shaped like a pyramid is born out of possessed technical expertise of unidentified superhuman divine beings which we do not understand because we are accustomed to recognize only physical beings.

Did aliens create Kailash Parbat?

Some people say that a supernatural energy was behind the creation of Kailash Parbat. It is possible that the miraculous Kailash Pyramids was perhaps created by an advanced civilization which we do not know about due to our limited knowledge and limited imagination.

Probably that lost civilization was well versed with the subtle laws of energy such as the twist field. Perhaps they were some undocumented aliens who knew how to gain control on time and energy.

Time Travel: Is ageing accelerated at Mount Kailash

This is another unsolved Kailash Parvat mystery.  Does time flies faster in Mount Kailash? Does hair and nail grow faster near Kailash Mountain? The air around the sacred Mount Meru or Kailash Parbat is known for speeding up the process of ageing! Kailash range is that vortex of energy where several mysterious events keep happening, including the unexplained transtemporal travel.

Many people have experienced rapid aging process around Kailash range region. Some have also claimed that the aging process is accelerated even after returning back to home from Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

In the past, several tourists, devotes and pilgrims noticed that their hair and nails grew by a few millimeters at unprecedented pace after they came back from Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. For example, if it takes 2 weeks to grow the nail and hair till a certain length in normal circumstances, then it can take just 12 hours to grow the same amount around Kailash Parbat.

There is a popular instance from the past which few know about. It is a little-known fact about Mount Kailash. Once upon a time, a group of climbers who had Siberian origin had ventures far in the Kailash region. It is said that these climbers rapidly aged.

They had grown by a few decades while their contemporaries who had not been to Tibet grew at normal pace. In a shockingly turn of events, all the trekkers from this Siberian team had passed away due to unnatural old age, just a year later! This is why not many people dare to trespassing the forbidden line even today! This unusual leap of age has amazed scientists since times immemorial.

What is inside Mount Kailash

Several mysterious activities have been observed at the peak of Mount Kailash. The sacred Kailash Parbat is composed of granite. Many say that Kailash Parbat is hollow from inside. The theory which says that there is vacuum inside Kailash Parvat is also common.

Dr Ernst Muldashev, a Russian ophthalmologist who is based in the Ufa city of Russia had camped around Mount Kailash and noticed many strange phenomena. You can read more on Dr Ernst Muldashev in the section ‘Is Kailash Parbat a pyramid?’

On one of the silent nights, Dr Ernst Muldashev often noticed unusual gasping sound right inside the Kailash Parvat. After his extensive research and study of Kailash Parbat, he shared many unusual facts about Mount Kailash in his academic paper.

Dr Ernst Muldashev is also the author of Where Do We Come From? He was born in the year 1948. He also runs the Alloplant Russian Eye and Plastic Surgery Center in the Ufa city of Russia. His expedition team to Mount Kailash and the mystical city of Shambala was called as RATT or Russian Adventure Travel Team. Thisevent wasorganized by the Russian Geographical Society in association with Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Match with spatial structure of DNA molecules

Dr Ernst Muldashev also found out many other strange facts about Kailash Parbat. He admitted that it was not at all easy for him to talk about Kailash Parbat from the prism of the limited modern science. However, he claimed that Kailash Parvat and the surrounding region not just stood there but had an important role to play, especially because it shares an undeniable relationship with the life on planet Earth as we know it.

When Dr Ernst Muldashev did a schematic mapping of the Kailash Mountain and the region surrounding it, he was surprised with the findings. The mapping also included stone mirrors and pyramids. What astonished him was the discovery that the scheme turned out to be quite identical with the spatial structure of DNA molecules.

The secret Lotus Symbol

Kailash Mountain which is also known as the pillar of the world, sits pretty like a lotus flower. In Hinduism or Sanatan Dharm, lotus is considered as a very auspicious flower. Kailash Mountain, which is situated in the heart of six mountain ranges, sits pretty as a symbol of the lotus flower.

Axis Mundi: Is Mount Kailash the center of Earth?

This is the most talked about Mt Kailash mystery. In India, we call Earth as Mother Earth. We even address our nation as Mother India or Bharat Mata. India is a society which always keeps women ahead of men. India is essentially a society with equal rights for men and women. This is why our ancestors considered Planet Earth as the ‘Great Mother’.

As per the ancient Hindu texts, there have been many references where Mount Kailash is represented as cosmic axis.

It has been scientifically proven several times that Kailash Parbat is the Axis Mundi. Axis Mundiis also known as the center of the world, cosmic axis, the world tree, world axis or the world pillar. It is also clearly mentioned in the ancient Hindu scriptures Vedas and Hindu Epic Ramayan that Kailash Mountain is indeed the cosmic axis.

The same has also been proven through the Google Maps. As per the Hindu faith, this cosmic axis is also the place where the heaven meets planet earth.

The rich and intelligent ancestors of Hindus constructed megalithic sacred monuments in regions which they concluded were ‘Earth Chakras’ or ‘Earth’s Highest Energy Vortexes’. The sacrosanct Kailash Parvat, which is located in the Trans-Himalayan range is also the 7th Chakra of Planet Earth.

Kailash Parbat is a less talked about centre of a worldwide system which connects various energy sites and mystical sites from different parts of the globe. Some of these energy zones are the Mexican Pyramids, great Pyramids of Egypt, North Pole, Stonehenge and the Easter Island. Together, these mystical sites form a global energy grid system. It is said that Kailash Parbat is connected to these monuments.

Several scientists from nations such as Russia and Unites States of America have done various studies and after much research came to the conclusion that Kailash Parbat is indeed the axis mundi or center of the Planet Earth. It is a little-known fact about Mount Kailash which even the devotees have no idea about.

It has also been established that Stonehenge in England is located exactly 6,666 kilometers from Mt. Kailash and North Pole is also located only 6,666 kilometers from Mount Kailash. The distance between the South Pole and Kailash Parbat is 13,332 kilometers.

It is curious to see that the distance between Mt. Kailash and South Pole is exactly twice the distance of Kailash Parbat with the North Pole or Stonehenge. Isn’t that an amazing fact about Mount Kailash? I am sure you had no idea about this.

I had verified these distances and facts about Mount Kailash on Google as well and I concluded that it was actually true. There was no sophisticated equipment in those day. I wonder how the ancient Hindu scientists were able to measure the distances so accurately!

This is the reason why Kailash Parbat, which is also the axis of rotation of the celestial sphere has attracted scientists from all over the world for deeper studies and research on the unusual activities observed in this region. In fact, it is this axis of the Earth which maintains the atmosphere and keeps all living organisms alive. This is why, Kailash Parbat is also known as Navel of the Universe.

Soul Window Observations

While visiting the hilly Kumaun region of Uttarakhand in North India, I had planned to visit the offbeat Kasar Devi Temple. Not many Indians know that only three places in the world experience the Van Allen Effect which is a strong geo magnetic field. Kasar Devi, Stonehenge and Machu Pichu in Peru of South America are the only 3 places where the mysterious Van Allen Belt has been observed.  It is high time India should value such energy spaces. In old days, Swami Vivekananda used to meditate at Kasar Devi.

During this trip I also visited Almora, Jhoola Devi Temple in Ranikhet, Majhkhali, Lakhudiyar Caves, Golu Devta Temple, Nanda Devi Temple, Kaichi Dham, Jageshwar and Dandeshwar Mandir, and Katarmal Surya Mandir etc. You can read my detailed blogs on these tourist places of attraction.

Secret underground cities of Kailash Range

I am sure no one told you about the 2 secret dungeons in the Kailash Mountain range area. These mysterious dungeons are known as Agartha and Shambhala.

These secret branches of advanced human civilizations originate from the Himalayas and Gobi Desert respectively. This is a lesser-known mystery of Kailash Mountain.

Miraculous source of 4 Rivers

Until I visited Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage, I had no idea that Kailash Parbat and the sacred Manasarovar Lake are the source of great Asian Rivers such as the majestic Brahmaputra, Indus River, Karnali, Ganga and Sutlej River. These are some of the most voluptuous and longest rivers of Asian continent.

The strange thing is that despite the fact that though these majestic rivers are situated in the same geographical location, they flow in various directions. However, what I found most amusing is the fact that after these rivers snake for thousands of kilometers, they arrive at a common destination which is Indian Ocean. I find this phenomenon very poetic and mysterious at the same time.

Mt Kailash Mystery of snow humans

There is a reason why Yogis from Hindu faith and other religions have chosen Kailash for Enlightenment? There is a reason why some mysterious snow humans still live around Kailash Parbat and do kadi tapasya or penance! This mystery of Mount Kailash has many believers.

Sound of Damru and Om

Some people have also claimed that the sound of ॐ or Om comes from Kailash Parbat. Some scientist also claim that this sound is actually the sound of melting snow. It is said that when sound and light meet, then the sound of Om is produced.

Soul Window Thoughts

Hinduism is a pluralist culture unlike the monotheistic Abrahamic religions. Hinduism is also the most ancient way of life or religion of the world. Hinduism doesn’t look down upon apostles and atheists. Everyone has the right to debate and question the religious differences of Hinduism and that’s the beauty of it!

Storing of knowledge by Shiv Bhagwan and Rishabhanatha

As per the Hindu faith, Shiv Bhagwan has stored the rare knowledge of enlightenment at Kailash Parbat in a special energy form.

The Buddhist and Jains have similar philosophy. As per the people of Jain community of India, Rishabhanatha, the first Jain Tirthankara had also stored the knowledge and truth of enlightenment at Mt Kailash.

As per Buddhism, the 3 major bodhisattvas viz. Guanyin Bodhisattva, Vajrasattva Bodhisattva, and Manjushri Bodhisattva reside in Kailash Mountain.

Mystery of number 4

Number 4 is a recurrent theme in and around Kailash Parbat. Let us have a look at some of them below:

  • There are 4 prominent faces of Kailash Parvat
  • Four great religions of world, namely Hinduism and its offshoots Jainism, Buddhism and Bon religion revere Kailash Mansarovar
  • The great four Asian rivers namely Brahmaputra, Karnali, Indus and Sutlej Rivers originate from the Kailash Mansarovar region. They further flow in the four different directions. It is said that this is symbolic of dividing the world in 4 parts.
  • 4 sides of Kailash Parvat are made up of Crystal, Ruby, Gold and Lapis Lazuli.

Is Mount Kailash a staircase between heaven and earth?

Mount Kailash mystery is still researched upon by scientists. Did you know that Mount Kailash is a staircase between heaven and Planet Earth? This theory is believed by the people who follow Hinduism, Buddhism and the Jain faith.

We all know that famous episode towards the denouement of the Hindu epic Mahabharat. Kailash Parbat was the place where Pandava brothers and their wife Draupadi climb hoping to attain moksha or liberation as they trekked towards the peak on the way to Swarg lok or heaven.

As is widely known, everyone except one of them had slipped off before even arriving at the summit of the peak.

Yudhishthira was the only person who did not fall off the cliff. Everyone else fell off the mountain because Yudhishthira was the only one who was allowed entry in the door of heaven.

At Kailash Mountain, the eerie connection of the spiritual world with physical world is palpable. The fact that Kailash Parvat is a link between Earth and heaven has also been elucidated in the vedas, the ancient Hindu scriptures.  Such amazing facts about Mount Kailash are not known to many people.

Mystery of caves and monasteries near Mount Kailash

The Mongolians have also claimed that certain extraterrestrial beings live in and around Kailash Parvat or Mount Meru. These beings are beyond the understanding of modern humans, no matter how much scientific progress they have made. It is possible that a certain energy which exudes from Kailash Parvat supports the life of these beings.

Secret Caves: Home of holy souls

Do sadhus live near Kailash Mansarovar? Let me tell you about this Kailash Mountain secret. As per the ancient Hindu and Buddhist scriptures, very old caves and monasteries still exist around Kailash Parbat. This is where the sadhus or the holy Hindu saints still stay in their physical and subtle bodies. Only lucky few have been able to see the mysterious caves yet.

Mysterious lights of Mansarovar Lake

This is the biggest Kailash Mansarovar Lake mystery! Several times mysterious lights have been observed above Mansarovar lake. This miracle takes place between 2:30 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. daily. These mysterious lights are Hindu Gods. During the auspicious Brahma Muhurat, God descend on the sacred Manasarovar Lake and have bath.

I myself tried to see these mysterious lights at the placid lake in night. Do read my blog about my experience of trying to see mysterious lights of Mansarovar. Such Kailash Mansarovar secrets should be researched more on, I feel.

Yin Yang energy of Manasarovar Lake and Rakshastal

While the water of Mansarovar lake always remain placid throughout the day, irrespective of the fact that the weather conditions are windy or not, on the other hand, the water of the adjacent demon lake or Rakshastal is said to be frequently turbulent. Mysteries of Kailash Mansarovar can be easily observed here.

While the Mansarovar Lake is freshwater lake and full of life, its next-door neighbour the salty Rakshastal is devoid of any marine, bird or aquatic life. The two lakes stand as a symbol of good and bad in the lap of Kailash Parbat.

There are many Manasarovar Lake mysteries. No one has been able to solve this Mount Kailash mystery yet. Do read my complete blog on the mystery of Mansarovar Lake and major differences between the Mansarovar Lake and Rakshastal. Nowhere else in the world, another such example exists!

The round shape of Mansarovar lake represents Sun or positive/brightness while the crescent shape of Rakshastal resembles the moon or negative energy/darkness. It stands as a symbol of good and evil existing next to each other. This also is a reiteration of the fact that both good and evil exists in same person. In a way, it establishes that the evil resides within us and not outside of us.

It is customary to take a holy dip in the water of Mansarovar Lake before performing the epic parikrama around Kailash Parvat. Kailash Parbat stands as the balance between the two mysterious lakes.

Conclusion: Will the mystery of Kailash Parbat be ever solved?

Someone said this long time ago, “Universe is under no obligation to make sense to humans.” I feel it is entirely true. We humans, in our ego start living under the delusion that we have mastered the field of science. Th truth is that humans still do not know much about planet Earth. We have not even been able to dig much deeper in Earth. Nor have we even been able to identify and classify all the physical living beings on Earth, whether ocean or land.

From the depth of the seas to the top of the mountains, much is yet to be discovered and understood.  I also feel not everything can be explained by science as we know it. We must surrender to the supreme God and accept things the way they are. While the mystery of Mount Kailash remains unsolved, believing in the unbelievable, can be liberating if you have the courage to do that!

While the self-proclaimed freethinkers and liberals may dismiss the miracles of Kailash Parbat as mere coincidences but for crores of devout Hindu, Buddhist, Bon, Sikh and Jain, Kailash Parbat is a beautiful creation of God. We are perhaps an incapable species, who failed to decipher and understand a higher intelligence, energy or power. The hidden intelligence which remains hidden from the human eye, perhaps doesn’t want to reveal itself.

Being the most powerful place on Earth, Kailash Parbat is a centre of many faiths. There is place for only surrender and belief at Kailash Parbat, if only we can drop our ego, identify the illusion and see the reality.
