WHY INDIANS SHOULD PROUDLY CARRY THEIR FOOD WHEN TRAVELLING ABROAD!
Many of you know that I am a big foodie. Many of you also know that I can’t cook a proper meal. None of you know that I carry ready to eat food packets on international trips. As I have started traveling internationally since 2014, I have realized one thing. No matter how adventurous I am while trying out exotic local vegetarian fare, I start craving for Indian vegetarian food after some point of time.
Indian vegetarian food is one of the best in the world. India, in fact is the unofficial vegetarian and vegan capital of the world. Indians have often been shamed for carrying their own food in foreign lands. Though, I have never seen anyone shaming a foreigner packing bags of packaged food from as far as USA and Europe when they visit India.
I carried many ready to eat packets of Indian food during my maiden trip to Australia last year. This time too, while I traveled back to back to Sri Lanka and Thailand respectively, I carried ready to eat packs of Indian food by Freshway Foods I carried 5 different varieties which saw me through my trip to both the Asian nations.
HOW READY TO EAT VEGETARIAN FRESHWAY FOODS HELPED ME IN SRI LANKA!
The first packet I opened was the Moong Dal Sheera. It was ready in just 5 minutes. Though I immensely enjoyed relishing Sri Lankan food such as hoppers, different types of sambal, curries etc, a bowl of Indian desert in an alien country is comforting for sure. And it smells just as good as the freshly prepared dish. Though, I wish I had carried more packets of the same. I had started craving for more as soon as it finished. Of course, I didn’t share it with anyone.

I love vegetarian Thai food. I really do! But when it is a week-long trip, then you sure start craving for something of your own country. Even a snack would do. How much noodles and fried rice could I have! Though, it is relatively easy to find Indian food in Thailand too but it is mostly limited to specialty restaurants and are often far away from the hotel. And what if you have this strong urge to eat your favourite Palak Paneer and none of them serve it! Luckily, I carried a pack of Palak Paneer by Freshway foods.
It was so easy to prepare it. It was ready in just 5 minutes. I just ordered a bowl of steamed rice and salad and enjoyed rice and Palak Paneer, just like home!
EVEN MY PARENTS LOVED READY TO EAT VEGETARIAN FRESHWAY FOODS
I love the Gujarati Khichdi Kadhi. The sweet white kadhi is very different from the yellow kadhi we eat in Punjab and much of the North India. Gujaratis eat kadhi with khichdi, very unlike the place I am born and brought up in, which is Uttar Pradesh. Every time I go to Gujarat I make sure I find it and eat to my heart’s content. In fact, just few months ago, I was in Rann Of Kutch and all I had was Khichadi kadhi.
My parents have never been to Gujarat, nor have they tasted khichadi kadhi. So, I wanted them to taste the same without traveling to Gujarat. I have never found this dish outside of Gujarat. Maybe, it is available in Mumbai in Gujarati restaurant. So, ready to eat khichdi kadi came to my rescue. My parents enjoyed it. And now that I know that I can order a ready to eat pack of the same, so I do not have to wait for my next Gujarat trip. In a way, Freshway Foods are desirable even if you are in India.
HOME ALONE? READY TO EAT VEGETARIAN FRESHWAY FOODS COMES TO RESCUE!
I was home alone for 15 days as my parents had gone to other city to meet my brother. My mom cooked 20 days worth of dry snacks. She even made 2 days worth of full meals. Dad stocked the fridge with fruits and the racks with umpteen packs of snacks, noodles and what nots. I watched embarrassingly, as all my attempt to stop them from doing it failed. I told them I had a stcok of ready to eat freshway foods with me. I told them I have lived on my own for 10 years in a challenging place like Navi Mumbai. But they know I am a miserable cook.
I can make some easy sandwiches or even (an apology of a) burger or noodles. But of course I can’t survive on this for a fortnight! Sometimes, I ordered food or went out, but being a freelancer, I am always chasing deadlines and completing assignments. Yes, I sit at home but I work much more than someone with a desk job. That leaves me with little time to cook anything. I had stocked Jain Pao Bhaji and Veg Biryani of Freshway foods for an easy lunch or dinner. For a bachelor like me who is also a lousy cook (I burn food 99% of the time), Freshway Foods came as a savior! Not only is the taste good but it is also quite filling! Quick home style meal is all I need when I am home alone with unending work to complete.
ATTRACTIVE PACKAGING OF READY TO EAT VEGETARIAN FRESHWAY FOODS
The packaging of Freshway Foods is sleek and attractive. A black background enhances the pictures of food which it contains. Clear instructions on ‘how to make it’ and Nutritional information (per 100 gms) is also given. It is easy to open the packet. The packet states clearly that it is 100 % natural and has no added preservatives or colors.
REASONABLE PRICE OF READY TO EAT VEGETARIAN FRESHWAY FOODS
It is really affordable to buy Freshway foods. It is priced at INR 150, INR 160, INR 190 and so on. Come to think of it. At most countries vegetarian food is expensive. In Australia, a proper meal will cost me INR 1000. Now even if you consume two packs of Freshway Foods at a time, the most it can cost you is INR 300. And you are 100 % sure that it is vegetarian. In Sri Lanka and Thailand I had to be extra cautious as many of their dishes had fish based powders, sauces and pastes. So, it is always better to carry something trusted in case of an emergency. Yes, craving is also an emergency!
HOW TO COOK READY TO EAT VEGETARIAN FRESHWAY FOODS
Preparing Freshway Foods is really simple. Except the moong daal sheera, all the other dishes I mentioned above didn’t need a stove. I cooked palak paneer, simply by boiling a glass of water in the electric kettle placed in my hotel room. Once the water was boiled (within seconds), I placed the content of the packet in a bowl, poureed piping hot water and covered it for 7-8 minutes. Voila, it was ready to eat with the steamed rice which I had ordered! Same goes for the Jain Pav Bhaji, Veg Biryani and Khichadi Daal. Yes, it is that simple!
