Me enjoying the luxurious stay at the Clark’s Avadh, Lucknow

Well, no matter how much I am comfortable with slumming it up and staying in dingy hotels during my travels, I will not deny that I enjoy luxury hotels too. More so, after I started traveling on professional assignments. During my stay at luxury properties, I unapologetically enjoy great food, air conditioned rooms, great smelling corridors, the works!

LUCKNOW IS A NICE WEEKEND DESTINATION FROM NEW DELHI:

Those of you looking for a fresh destination,Lucknow offers much more than you can imagine. Lucknow is suitable for a couple getaway, elderly parents or family with young children. Here is how you can book luxury properties in Lucknow for throw away prices.

I tried a very useful app called TravelSpice recently for my stay at the Clark’s Awadh in Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh, India). It is a centrally located 4 star property and a name to reckon with! Thanks to TravelSpice, I was able to book a room in the hotel at more than half the price. You would wonder how is it even possible! It is no magic! What TravelSpice does is that it utilizes the vacant rooms in a hotel in a way that both hotel and the guest benefit out of it!

Having worked in hotel industry myself (I am an ex hotel management student), I understand that on most days hotels are not 100 % booked. Full occupancy is desirable by the management but that is often not possible!  TravelSpice opens these vacant rooms for bidding. Isn’t it a brilliant way to fill up the vacant room inventory?!!

HOW DOES BIDDING OF HOTEL WORK?

Once a potential customer logs on to the website of TravelSpice, he or she can select the city from a drop down menu. Next was a feature I found very useful. Location of a hotel is of utmost importance to me.  So I was asked which area in Lucknow I wanted to stay in! In next step, you need to choose the category of hotels such as 4 star, 5 star etc. Once you select the category you will be shown a list of hotels available for bidding in that category. If you feel comfortable you can go ahead.

WHAT NEXT?

Then you choose particulars such as check in date, check out date, PAX (number of occupants) etc.  Now you can enter a bid price as suggested by TravelSpice on the page. For example for a single occupancy for 1 day and 1 night stay, I had entered the bid price of INR 1874 which after taxes and services totaled upto INR 2098. I paid via net banking and waited for my allotment. I received a call from the TravelSpice team informing me that my bid had been successfully accepted and that I had been allotted Clark’s Avadh hotel.

I was amazed to see that I was able to book a luxury property at such low rates without any complications and hidden surprises. And the best part was that there was no compromise on the quality of the room. I was allotted the same room and access to same pool area, breakfast buffet and other public spaces as other guests.

SMOOTH COMMUNICATION AND SERVICE:

In no time, I also received the hotel voucher on the email ID I had submitted while bidding and paying.

The communication I received from the TravelSpice team had clarity and was quick. The team called me after I was allotted the room. The team also called me the next day when I checked in the room to ask if things were going fine?  Sweet! The staff I interacted with on the phone was well trained, courteous and well spoken.

THE BOTTOMLINE:

Not only does TravelSpice help the hotels to avoid lost business of vacant rooms, it also gives an opportunity to allow people to book luxury hotels at a fraction of the cost. As their tagline aptly says, “Kitne mein Chahiye?” (For how much do you want it?)

So, the next time if you are traveling solo or with family and friends, I would suggest you to try out the website of TravelSpice. Travel in style without breaking the bank!

WHICH WEEKEND DESTINATION TO CHOOSE FROM:

If you look up the website of TravelSpice, you will see a list of destinations in India where they offer their service. You can choose the weekend destination depending upon whether you want to travel solo, or with family and young children or with elderly parents. IT couple looking for a break will also find their website useful.

The view from my #SoulWindow is pocket friendly!
