NICE PLACE TO STAY IN BANGKOK, THAILAND IS MONTIEN RIVERSIDE HOTEL:

During my maiden trip to Thailand, the first hotel I stayed at was the 5 star property – The Montien Riverside Hotel in Bangkok. It is an old hotel but is still well maintained and keeping up with the times. Had someone not told me, I would not have guessed that it is running since decades. I had checked in along with a large group of reporters, bloggers and media personnel. Despite our large group size, the check in process was smooth and quick. We were given our keys within the first 10 minutes of our arrival. The waiting time was used to serve us welcome drink and the much needed hot towel.

THE GRAND LOBBY OF THE

MONTIEN RIVRSIDE HOTEL, BANGKOK:

The first thing which impressed me about the Montien hotel, Bangkok was the sheer grandeur of its lobby. The high ceiling, classy interiors, mood lighting etc vied for my attention. The way to the garden area and the restaurant is through the lobby. The garden is huge and faces the harbor. Our gala dinner was hosted in the gardens. The swimming pool was on one of the upper floors. I had missed enjoying it due to the busy schedule.

THE AMAZING VIEW FROM THE ROOMS OF THE MONTIEN RIVRSIDE HOTEL, BANGKOK:

The best thing about my room on the 5th floor was the incredible view from my large ‘soul windows’. I arrived in night and the first thing I checked upon entering the room was the view.  All I could see was some street lights and vehicles passing through the highways. Yup, much like any big city of India. My sleep vanished, when I woke up the next day and saw the breathtaking view of the harbor. Built adjacent to the Chao Phraya River, a part of the property bathed in the morning glow could also be seen from my windows. However, the design was such that none of the occupants could peep into each other’s room, thanks to the brilliant architecture. Ships and boats moved lyrically on the water as I sipped my morning cuppa from the comfort of my room. The best part is all 462 rooms of the hotels have this view!

IMPRESSIVE ATTENTION TO DETAIL AT THE

MONTIEN RIVRSIDE HOTEL, BANGKOK:

The room at Montien Riverside hotel, Bangkok was spacious. I particularly liked the small details that they had paid attention to. Thanks to my job, I often get to stay in 5 star luxury properties and thus can compare the services and products offered by different hospitality brands. What I liked about Montien Riverside Hotel, Bangkok was the small things that they did, such as placing orchid flowers on towels in washrooms and in the complimentary fruit plate. It was also the first time I saw a hotel folding their toilet paper in a fan like design. The bed cover was also painstakingly folded in a beautiful design.

MY ROOM AT THE MONTIEN RIVRSIDE HOTEL, BANGKOK:

My bed was comfortable and had the usual mood lights and side tables. The phone was on the bedside so that made life easier for me, since I always request for wake up call. I never watch TV, so cannot comment on that. The washroom was huge. The bathtub was big and comfortable. No wonder, I soaked in the hot water on both the nights when I was here. That is all you need after a tiring day of sightseeing in the perennially humid weather of Thailand.

INDIAN VEGAN AND VEGETARIAN FOOD AT THE MONTIEN RIVERSIDE HOTEL, BANGKOK:

The best Indian food I had in Thailand was at Montien Riverside hotel, Bangkok. I unapologetically request for Indian vegetarian food when I am traveling outside the India. Being a vegetarian, I find that the safest. I also get satisfaction only after eating a hearty Indian meal. The upma served here was so good that I overate. The idli could have been softer, but I was still excited to find my favourite and healthy South Indian breakfast dish. The spicy shallow fried potatoes of puri-bhaji were brilliant. No wonder, all of us had second serving of it.

The buffet during the gala dinner was also impressive what with vegetarian hors d’oeuvre, main courses and wide variety of drinks which navigated my throat. I hogged on the Thai cold coffee, canapés, dimsums (delicious), and Phad Thai. All vegan and worthy of second serving!

  2. The Montien Riverside Hotel looks very luxurious. I have not been to Bangkok yet so this hotel will be on my list to look at when I travel there. It is nice that they have a pool for exercise. I do love the bed presentation and folding. It reminds me of the towel art I’ve seen on cruises.

  3. Beautiful hotel! I love how they took the time to accommodate you so well. I am glad that you had a good time. Also, the view from your room looks absolutely spectacular! 🙂
