Top places to see in Malaysia

While most tourists tend to flock to Thailand, they have little curiosity in Malaysia. However, little do they know that what wonderful opportunity they are missing out on! It is a wrong notion that Malaysia is expensive or the Kuala Lumpur hotels will not fit within the budget. In fact, Malaysia is simply ideal for all kind of travelers, no matter what budget. I have yet not been to Malaysia, but while researching for this blog, I realized it is exactly the kind of place I would love!

One gets to enjoy two very distinct experiences here, the peninsula and Borneo. The peninsula or West Malaysia with modern capital, Kuala Lumpur offers a blend of Malay, Chinese and Indian flavors. Malaysian Borneo boasts of most interesting places and remote tribes. Malaysia is indeed a happy mix with some beautiful islands, colonial towns and exciting places to see. Manukan Island

Manukan Island lies within the first marine national park of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul National Park. There are great beaches, and one can enjoy spectacular scuba diving and snorkeling. There are well-developed tourist facilities on the island.

Little India

Explore Little India while in Kuala Lumpur. You will be surprised to see hundreds of shops selling traditional spices, materials, and clothing. Get a great massage in this area that will leave you completely relaxed.

Perhentian Islands

Perhentian Islands are just perfect for all the backpackers and budget travelers. There are excellent snorkeling and diving options and great nightlife. You can easily bypass the crowds here to enjoy those blue waters.

Kek Lok Si Temple

Kek Lok Si Temple at Penang dates back to 1891 and is among the most important Chinese Buddhist temples. With countless images of Buddha indeed makes for an impressive sight. It is the largest Buddhist temple that draws pilgrims and visitors throughout Southeast Asia.

Petronas Tower

Another iconic landmark in Kuala Lumpur is the Petronas Tower. You can just walk in and take the free ride up to get to the top by elevator to Level 33. Get clear views of the Twin Towers and enjoy a cocktail in the bar.

Batu Caves

Do visit the Batu Caves near Kuala Lumpur that showcase some awesome Hindu art. It is the most famous Hindu shrine outside of India, and the three main caves attract thousands of worshippers. A giant statue of a Hindu god is the highlight of the site.

Sandakan Memorial Park

Borneo marks the site of death marches during the Second World. The Agnes Keith House is full of mementoes of the gone times and tell tales about the captive War. Australian and British troops.
