It is named after the plant “Kilmora” that is used for washing utensils of the ancient Katarmal Temple. Framed by the magnificent Himalayas, the region offers spectacular views of the mountains on a clear day. On a misty day, Almora looks like something out of a dream, where all things seem surreally beautiful. 1. Beautifully written! Would love to visit each and every place you mentioned. Do check out my blog to some of the remotest places of Uttarakhand. Hope, you’ll like it.

  2. I am sold, only looking at your pictures! Firstly, the vantage point or Zero point in Binsar has breathtaking views and Jageshwar with its 125 (!!) temples also seems like a great place to explore. I love the black-and-white picture of the corridor with the columns. I really had no idea Almora had such lovely places to explore. My family lives in Delhi and I visit them often and we are always looking for places not too far from Delhi to explore over a long weekend. This sounds like a good one!

  3. As I am a mountain lover, I would love to visit Almora. Binsar zero point looks splendid with white clouds over beautiful Himalayas. Katarmal Sun temple also looks worthvisiting due to its wonderful architecture. Thanks for sharing detailed information on where to stay. I would surely look into Club Mahindra resort for stay as it looks wonderful.

  4. Being an Indian, it’s a shame I have never landed in Uttarakhand. Till date I used to dream to visit Nainital, but it seems Almora is no less and I just checked that they both aren’t too far and I can visit both in a single trip 🙂 Zero Point sounds like being on top of the world with amazing views. The pillar photo of the Jageshwar temples is awesome and so are the views from the Club Mahindra resort. Thanks for sharing this

  5. I don’t know much about India, so I was excited to read about Almora. I love learning about other cultures, so this sounds like a great stop.I know my husband would love to see the Himalayas.

  6. Thank you so much for sharing this! I’m about to move to Hong Kong and have been trying to figure out the best way to explore the Himalayas. I am going to follow your recommendations to a T – so thank you!

  7. I had been to Almora long time back. like you said, it did feel like a dream place, in the mountain mist of the Himalayas. I went there with my friends. Perhaps i should pay attention to your advice and visit it with my family soon. I am sure my parents would love the quaint town. They could enjoy the temples while I could get lost in nature at Zero Point.
