DATSUN redi-GO AMT, THE EDGY NEW CAR- TEST DRIVE AND REVIEW!

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will know that I am a big fan of road trips. I started enjoying road trips during my Mumbai days and made many road trips along with my friends Rahul and Vipul.

We would make whimsical plans on a Friday to nearby destinations such and Alibaug, Matheran, Panchgani, Mahabaleshwar, Lonavala etc.

One of our most memorable road trips was to Velas where we attended the Turtle festival. After much experience I can say that it is very important to choose your vehicle wisely before embarking upon a road trip!

IT PAYS TO TEST DRIVE DATSUN redi-GO AMT:

I was in Mumbai again during much of March 2018 and on one lazy day, me and Rahul decided to take a test drive of Datsun Redi-GOAMT as Datsun has recently announced an exciting Automatic Test Drive Challenge.

IMG_3942

The challenge encourages people to take a test drive of new Datsun redi-GO Smart Drive Auto. Having heard so much about it already, I didn’t wantto let go of the chance to experience its best-in-class features. Especially when it comes with a benefit! Yes, it pays to take the test drive.

If within 7 days of taking the challenge, people buy a competitor’s car, Datsun will give them benefits worth Rs 5000.

AUTOMATED TRANSMISSION AND OTHER FEATURES:

The good part is that in India, AMT was earlier available only in high end luxury cars. I was surprised to see Automated Manual Transmission available in affordable car like Datsun redi-GO AMT. That’s a blessing for those who want this feature without breaking the bank.

The Automated Transmission of Datsun redi-GO AMT allowed me to drive without changing gears manually. The transmission helps automatically change gear ratio. The automatic variant of the redi-GO AMT line up is a boon for those who want comfort and convenience of not changing gears frequently. In a city like Mumbai where traffic and congested roads are a norm, Automated Manual Transmission comes to the rescue. When I did the test drive of the car through the jam packed roads, AMT helped me to maneuver though the road smoothly

The ‘Rush Hour Mode’ as christened by Datsun, helped me move at low speed. In the big cities, one is stuck in bumper to bumper traffic often and that’s when this feature comes to rescue. The impressive ground clearance of 185 mm, as mentioned above, comes handy when you have multiple speed breakers on the road.

With more and more cities getting congested, AMT is the need of the hour. The technology makes the commute hassle free and stress free. #TheBetterAMT as promised by Datsun lives up to the expectations.

Some of the other features of the car are:

  1. Powerful AC
  2. Best-in-class Cabin Space
  3. Rush Hour Mode
  4. Dual Driving Mode
  5. Bluetooth Audio System with Hands-free calling.

CLASSY INTERIORS OF DATSUN redi-GO AMT:

As soon as I took my seat inside the Datsunredi-GO AMT, I was impressed with its classy interiors.

I am glad to see that the designers behind this car have put much thought behind the look and feel of the car. For example: the head turning headlamp

and the taillamp helped us drive safely in the night. The daytime running lamp is another feature I appreciate. The vibes of the car is young and upbeat. Apart from the amp

le storage space, it also has 2 bottle holders and a tray. Quite handy to keep wallets, phone, milk bottle for babies, soft drinks etc. Such small things are great for frequent travelers like me.

THE SENSE OF SPACE IN DATSUN redi-GO AMT:

IMG_3938

I am a tall person, so is my friend Rahul. Being tall has its own set of problems. Be it an aircraft or a m

ovie hall or a car, we always crave for extra space. The 222 liter boot space was a blessing. If I compare to other cars in the same category, Datsun redi-GOAMT wins any day.

The other cars in same category have failed to give the kind of space Datsun redi-GO AMT offers. Who doesn’t like extra shoulder room, headroom and legroom, especially if you are 6 feet, 1 inch tall?I am glad that Datsun delivers it! Despite my tall frame, I was delighted to find that neither did my head hit the roof of the car nor did I face any problem with the leg space. The storage space for luggage at the rear end of the car is also good.

HIGH GROUND CLEARANCE OF DATSUN redi-GO AMT:

We all know that roads of India are not really the best!

IMG_3954

Who can forget the spoof viral video by RJ Malishka where she questions the authorities for the bad shapes of roads?Anyways, despite driving on the pot holed roads, our ride was rather smooth! An unprecedented ground clearance of 185mm helped us achieve it! I don’t know any other car in this category which offers the same ground clearance. This is the best upgrade we could have asked for!

THE BOTTOMLINE:

It offers the consumers most of the features that they had asked for.I have quite an experience of reviewing cars– thanks to my non-stop travels and I can vouch for the comfort and other benefits which Datsun redi-GO AMT facilitates. No other car in the same category matches up! It is affordable, functional and looks great! What’s stopping you? It is time to give it a test drive and take the Automatic Test Drive Challenge.

Disclaimer:I did the test drive of Datsun redi-GO AMT along with my friend on the roads of Maharashtra. The views expressed here are my own and based upon my and Rahul’s experience of the test drive.

  1. I hope they have a manual as well for I don’t really enjoy the automated gears. Somehow takes away the thrill of the drive. I love the color and the space of the car. Quite compact but yet luxurious in its feel.. The high ground clearance is a huge plus. Will have to look the car up. Well reviewed

  2. I’m a very bad driver, and consequently know very little about cars. I can drive a car if in a lurch though I dont enjoy it. One of the factors that I hate about driving is the manual transmission. Now that Datsun Redi Go is planning to offer an automatic transmission variant, I should probably check it out.

  3. I’m not very knowledgeable about cars but road trips certainly increase the flexibility of being able to travel to attractions travellers are interested in and even to pull over at photo stops. It also makes it much more convenient to travel long distances (just don’t make the same guy drive all the way please!)

  4. The best part of the Datsun range of cars is the value for money that they all provide. In terms of features what they provide is much more than what other brands in the same price range provide. The automatic transmission is a good feature in this segment and something that is so useful in cities like Bangalore with frequent traffic congestions.

  5. I’ve not been interested in Datsun cars before. But this car has some really impressive features in a reasonable price bracket. Particularly AMT. A good catch for many of us.
